We wanted the Frame of Reference film contest to separate the wheat from the chaff. We asked our contestants to bake up compelling films inspired by choice ingredients. We've kept the rules up to help you see the stakes. Check out the steps and brace yourself for the endgame.

Using your references as jumping-off points, develop a 3-to-5 minute film. We aren't looking for a music video, people. Take inspiration from your reference points to build a whole new artistic work.
Keep our criteria in mind. Though your films must have public appeal, our judges will be looking for creative execution and technical skill to boot.
Upload your film to our site by the submission deadline, April 4, 2008, to be considered. If your film passes our initial screen test, your work will go live on the Lounge on April 11, 2008.

The contest doesn't end with the Lucky Three. Each of the three finalists will need to make a new 20-minute film to compete for the grand prize — a whopping $25,000 in cash.
If you're good enough to make it to the Lucky 3, we expect you to put on a good show. For that reason, we'll be charting your progress right here. You'll get your own corner of the Lounge — and we’ll get behind-the-scenes access to your filmmaking adventures.
It all comes down to one final bout. Each member of the Lucky 3 will get to premiere their new film on the Lounge — and must suffer the final scrutiny of our judges. The winner will receive a $25,000 jackpot and a big splash on the Lounge. If that doesn't get you noticed, we don't know what will.
