Last September at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, TX, Fantastic Fest took over the screens. Film fanatics swooped down on the genre showcases and upcoming theatrical highlights like some ravenous venue of movie-loving vultures. With so much to see in just a week, it’s no wonder VIP badges for ’08 are already sold out.

Horror flicks with gruesome zombie attacks. Kung fu movies about honor and revenge. Sci-fi epics set in dystopian futureworlds. That’s what Fantastic Fest 2007 was all about: Great genre films and the visionary directors who lovingly brought them to life.
George A. Romero
George A. Romero
He’s made pulses race since the 60s with cult classics like “Night of the Living Dead.” Romero screened “Diary of the Dead” to kick things off.
Adam Green

Richard Kelly
Richard Kelly
With Kelly’s films, it takes multiple viewings for everything to sink in. The mastermind behind “Donnie Darko” brought “Southland Tales” to the Fest.

Since '05, the Fantastic Fest has been a part of the circuit — and each year, it’s gotten nothing but 5-star reviews from its attendees. At the Alamo Drafthouse in South Austin, the collective behind the week-long fest has kept a solid focus on getting genre films the attention they deserve, including some 60 feature film premiers and 30 short films. Respect the unexpected.
